According to the circulated statement, Andy Byron admitted to his personal mistakes, offered an apology, and called for respect for his privacy:

“I want to sincerely apologize to my wife, my family, and the team at Astronomer. They all deserve better from me—as a partner, a father, and a leader.”

“This is not the person I want to be, nor the image I want to represent for the company I helped build. I am taking time to reflect, take responsibility, and determine the next steps—both personally and professionally. I kindly ask for privacy during this period.”

The apology, written under Andy Byron’s name, also expressed concern over the public exposure of what he described as a private moment:

“I also want to express my concern about a moment that should have remained private being publicly shared without my consent. I respect artists and people in the entertainment industry, but I hope we can all reflect more deeply on the impact of turning someone else’s life into a spectacle.”

However, this very statement has become a new focal point of controversy, with many netizens expressing outrage. They believe Andy Byron is shifting blame onto the person who recorded and shared the footage, rather than fully taking responsibility for his own actions.

Comments on the platform X (formerly Twitter) reflect this sentiment:

  • “Expressing concern over a private moment being shared without consent—this might be the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.”

  • “Why not just apologize sincerely instead of blaming others?”

  • “This apology just made the whole thing even more of a joke.”

The alleged apology letter is still spreading rapidly online, with numerous news outlets reposting it. However, some are raising doubts about its authenticity.
“It could be fake,” commented the Hindustan Times.

Since the scandal exploded on social media, Andy Byron has either deactivated or deleted his personal accounts.
