After spending the first few months of 2021 in the U.K. lockdown, 2024 PBR Youth Arlington Spotlight World Finals Shirt house-bound with very little reason to dress up, I’d forgive you for thinking you never wanted to see a pair of leggings again. And if so, you’re not alone. As we slowly emerge from our collective hibernation and restrictions begin to ease across the country, there seems to be a renewed sense of enthusiasm that comes with getting dressed. Whether it be popping out for a quick coffee with a friend or venturing to your local park, Brits are finding reasons to dress up. Proving exactly this sentiment, last month, photographer Michaela Efford and I ventured to East London’s Broadway Market (a hot spot for fashion lovers, if you don’t already know that) in search of some stylish individuals to photograph. On our way, we serendipitously came across familiar influencers, models-off-duty, fashion designers, and other creatives, all of whom were strolling through their local shopping strip with style to boot. From vintage leather jackets to spring-ready floral dresses and Converse high-tops by the dozen, keep scrolling to see what women are really wearing in London right now.

We often see metallics take over the winter collections, 2024 PBR Youth Arlington Spotlight World Finals Shirt but this spring, there’s a surprisingly fresh range of shimmering pieces that are here to transform metallics into a perennial favourite. Between lamé and satin, brocade and leather and sequins and jewels, never before has the trend been so thoroughly explored. An audible gasp could be heard when Tove’s liquid-gold dress came round the corner, whilst La Pointe’s fabulous silver sequin two-piece sent the paparazzi flashbulbs into a frenzy. “Whilst sequins and metallics never really go out of style, for spring/summer 2024 they’ve had a revamp, with liquid-gold dresses, shimmering chainmail-style creations and glistening silver tailoring adorning the catwalks alongside plenty of sequins and a hefty dose of lamé,” says Nash. “It might not be the most practical of trends—you’re unlikely to see me in a fabulous sparkling two-piece on my commute, I’m afraid—but what I love about it is that it really brings the joy back into dressing. Put on the pieces you normally reserve only for best and shine!”
