If someone told me one year ago that I would be ALL about zebra print for fall 2019, Ryu vs. Ken the fighting event of the century shirt I wouldn’t have believed it. After all, my style has always erred on the simpler side, with me preferring basics to statement items, but here we are. I’ve been buying zebra pieces, I wore the print a handful of times during NYFW, and now I’m trying to convince you that it’s really not as scary as it sounds. I actually mean it!. While the idea of dressing in zebra—and tiger because, honestly, who can tell the difference?—can, at first, evoke intense ’80s flashbacks for some, the clothing and accessories that are out now are a far cry from the “wild” leggings and windbreakers of years past. In fact, they can be quite chic and classic-looking when done right, and the below outfits are definitely examples of that. They’ll never be groundbreaking, but with seismic petal proportions and blooms that jump off the toile they’re delicately attached to, there’s new life to be found in the trend that we assumed we’d seen everything from.
